The
conference welcomes all researchers of European nobility to exchange ideas
on recent nobility studies. We welcome papers or sessions (including 2-4 persons)
that respond to the main theme from different viewpoints and from different time
periods from the early Middle Ages to the 20th century. The
proposals can deal with, but are not limited to, the following themes:
* Economy,
material culture and consumption
* Space
(inner and outer) and borders* Networks: kinship, family, friendship, communities
* Ideology (politics, religion, ideals, values, education)
* Change, transition and transformation
* Social categories (gender, age, status)
* Service (serving the nobility, serving the crown)
* Everyday life (food, health care, daily activities)
* Ceremony, rituals and symbols
* Representations of art, music, and literature
Sessions
will be in English and individual paper presentations will be 30 minutes,
including discussion. Self-organized sessions including
3 to 4 presentations are also welcome.
